Real-time environmental data from 4 altitude-mapped climate chambers. 1,247 equatorial species propagated under calibrated light, humidity, and thermal conditions tuned to the hour.
AMBIENT TEMPERATURE
Zone-averaged dry bulb — Colombian cloud forest reference: 24–28 °C
RELATIVE HUMIDITY
Capacitive sensor array — misting cycle active, 6-min intervals
PAR LIGHT INTENSITY
Full-spectrum LED rig — 18h photoperiod, dawn/dusk ramp enabled
SPECIES PROPAGATING
Active propagation beds — 23 Araceae, 14 Marantaceae families
FROM THE DATA — 27.4 °C
Every species in Canopy is assigned a thermal zone drawn from its native altitude band in the Colombian Andes. A Bird of Paradise growing at our 27.4 °C premontane setting isn't just warm — it's at 1,200 metres above sea level in Risaralda, where afternoon cloud cover drops the dew point and the soil cools six degrees by midnight.
We run four independent climate chambers mapped to these altitude bands. When you source a specimen from Canopy, you receive a plant that has never experienced the wrong temperature — not once in its propagation cycle.

FROM THE DATA — 82% RH
At 82% relative humidity, a Philodendron gloriosum leaf does something box-store plants never do: it opens at its own pace. The velvety texture that makes it a collector's obsession develops over three months in high humidity — compress that to six weeks in dry air and you get a plant that looks like a bad photocopy.
82% RH maintained
→Stomata remain open 18h/day
Maximum CO₂ uptake, accelerated cell division
Ultrafine 12μm mist
→Leaf surface coated, not saturated
Prevents fungal load while maintaining vapour pressure
6-minute cycle timing
→Mimics cloud-forest fog rhythm
Matched to diurnal humidity curves at 1,800m elevation
Every specimen in the Canopy collection traces a documented path from propagation bench to delivery. You're not buying a plant — you're receiving the end product of a 40-week engineered process.
STAGE 01
Cuttings are taken from mother plants in Chamber 1. Each node is catalogued by species, phenotype, and projected variegation pattern. Propagation medium: 60% perlite, 30% coco coir, 10% worm castings.
DOME HUMIDITY
100% humidity dome
